Airline Ambassadors - Cincinnati, Ohio / Mircales In Action
2004
  • Empty Tomb Ministries Foundation helped sort and prepare for shipping stuffed animals, children’s clothing, baseball caps, and shoes to be shipped to Guatemala. Since 1997, Airline Ambassadors has delivered over $11 million in humanitarian aid to children in developing countries. It is a grassroots, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to improving the lives of impoverished children, many of whom are lonely orphans living in the garbage dumps.
  • A Kansas City, Kansas kindergarten class heard about Empty Tomb Ministries' need for shoes so they had a shoe drive in October. These bunch of five and six year olds delivered nearly one hundred pairs of shoes to Empty Tomb Ministries’ headquarters in Minneapolis, Kansas. The new and pre-worn shoes traveled over 200 miles and were a blessing for the needy children in Guatemala.
  • Great Plains Manufacturing with plants in Beloit, Abilene, and Salina, Kansas also got involved and donated 277 new and pre-worn shoes for the cold and bare feet of the Mayan children in Guatemala. Also, a 9-year old girl in Salina, Kansas cleaned out her closet and donated some of her warm clothes, shoes, and a large bag of stuffed animals, which the children use for pillows. All the shoes, clothing, and stuffed animals were delivered to the shipping point for Airline Ambassadors in Wichita, Kansas.
  • Also, ETM collected 42 afghans from three ladies who had heard about the need in Guatemala. They had made these afghans for the children so that they could have a warm blanket to shield their little bodies from the bitter cold.
  • In addition to the above humanitarian aid collected by Empty Tomb Ministries Foundation, Salina Regional Medical Center donated three huge pallets of out-dated medical supplies, which were also shipped to Guatemala through Airline Ambassadors. All the supplies made it to Guatemala in time for Christmas.

2005
  • The Minneapolis, Kansas Grade School also donated shoes to Empty Tomb Ministries Foundation. In January they delivered over 150 pairs of shoes for the needy children. Some of these shoes were shipped out the first part of February for Guatemala and the balance was delivered to Mission Native America in Edmond, Oklahoma for the needy Native American children on the reservations in North and South Dakota’s.

  • On September 1-6, 2005 President Jerry Ayers traveled on a mission trip to Guatemala. While there he distributed underwear, shoes, socks, hygiene kits, and stuffed animals to poor school children at a Finca Village. He also presented the director of the village with Guatemalan money equal to $421.00 to buy beans and rice for the school kids. This money will feed 200 school kids a meal a day for 135 days. The following day he also visited a girl's orphanage for abused girls ages 5-17. There he distributed crayons, hair sponges, snacks, and stuffed animals. He also helped make a friendship quilt with all the girls and played basketball with them.
The next day he assembled and helped distribute 70 wheelchairs to the poor and needy. The recipients also received a lap blanket, stuffed animal, and a large bag stuffed full of treats and a can of Pepsi. Late that afternoon he visited a baby orphanage and gave love to little kids that are starving for attention.
The last day he visited a library for poor migrant worker children and helped hand out diploma's for the kids who graduated from Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel programs. Then he visited a migrant workers camp and saw kids suffering from smoke inhalation, feet that were bleeding and oozing with infection, no shoes, no shirts, no underwear, and no socks. They also did not even have a place to sleep except on the wet and cold ground without any covering.
  • When President and CEO Jerry Ayers returned from a mission trip to Guatemala on September 6th, the promise of helping the malnourished, shivering and dying children in the migrant worker camp in Duenas weighted heavy on his heart. Therefore, he contacted Sandy Shields to find out what it would take to make 300 waterproof sleeping bags. She informed him that it would take about $10.00 per bag to make, thus began the $3,000.00 project. “Warm Hugs of Love” envisioning the arms of Jesus keeping the children warm and dry at night in His loving arms.
On October 12th Sandy found 400 yards of the waterproof material called ‘rip-stock’ in New Jersey. The large bolts of material arrived at Sandy’s house in Minneapolis, Kansas the first week of November. Then Sandy and Jerry searched for fleece lap blankets to be used as insulation for the waterproof sleeping bags. They found just what they needed from a store chain called Big Lots. They bought all they blankets that the stores in Salina, Topeka, Beloit, and 3 stores in Wichita had.
Then Sandy called all her sewers along with ETMF volunteers from Minneapolis, Wichita and El Dorado, Kansas assembled and sewed the 280 sleeping bags together. Next, the sleeping bags were folded and packed preparing them to be shipped to Cincinnati, Ohio. Also, over 100 small toys were donated by the Ottawa County Ministerial Association for the children. The toys and sleeping blankets were shipped on December 15th.

Jerry Ayers called Hospitals of Hope in Wichita, Kansas to see if they would be interested. They informed him that they needed the medical supplies for their next trip to Bolivia.
Jerry drove to Lindsborg on December 2, 2005 to pick up the medical supplies and made arrangements to deliver them to Hospitals of Hope on December 10th or 11th. He met Dr. Mike at Hospitals of Hope on Saturday December 10th at 4:00 P.M. and transferred the medical supplies to the HOH warehouse. The money raised will assist the students to go to Wal*Mart to replace school clothes and personal hygiene items.
  • In August, ETMF funded $1,700.00 for an appreciation banquet for the teachers and dorm staff members at Riverside Indian School in Anadarko, Oklahoma. This is the first time in the school’s 130 plus year history that someone recognized the staff members for the hard job they do. This banquet really lifted the spirits of the downcast staff and open up the door for a ministry team to visit the campus and interact with the students. These students are pulled away from their families off the reservations across the United States. They come from 23 states and 80 different tribes and are in the 4th - 12th  grades.
  • In August, ETMF along with members of the H.O.P.E. coalition raised $1,200.00 to purchase two new Dell computers and printers.
